Biodegradable Polymer

Nobori® drug eluting stent has a unique design with an asymmetric coating and biodegradable polymer.
The biodegradable PLA (Polylactid Acid) is a naturally occurring polymer with a long history of medical applications.
This innovative concept allows for simultaneous polymer degradation and drug release.

Key Characteristics

Abluminal Coating

Fully Biodegradable Polymer

By applying only abluminal (outer surface) coating the Nobori® new generation drug eluting stent allows for:

  • Targeted drug release into the vessel wall
  • Minimal systemic effect 1
  • Better stent endothelialization with possible positive impact on safety 1 2

PLA completely degrades by hydrolysis to carbon dioxide and water. Degradation of the polymer may improve long term safety by:

  • Reducing chronic sensitivity
  • Eliminating the potential problem of remnant drug inside the coating
  • Abolishing chances of delamination or late failure of coating

Biodegradable polymer on abluminal surface preserves endothelial function

PLA bioabsorbable Polymer

  • Abluminal Coating
  • High drug-carrying capacity
  • Controlled biodegradability
  • Simultaneous polymer degradation
and release of drug into tissue
Drug carrier : Polylactic acid
